This compact, culturally dense day trip explores the central Kosovo plain. Starting from the lively capital of Priština, you will discover the UNESCO-listed 14th-century architectural masterpiece of Gračanica Monastery, stroll among the Roman mosaics and basilicas of ancient Ulpiana, and return for an evening coffee along Mother Teresa Boulevard.

Gračanica Monastery

Arrive in Gračanica village. Enter the peaceful walled sanctuary. Marvel at the five tiered domes, and spend an hour inside the candlelit church examining the Palaiologan frescoes by Michael and Eutychios, including the portraits of King Milutin and Queen Simonida and the monumental Last Judgment. Visit the monastery workshop for beeswax candles and local honey.

Ulpiana Archaeological Site

A 5-minute drive east brings you into the open fields of Ulpiana. Walk the gravel trails past the excavated Roman baths, defensive towers, and the grand 6th-century episcopal basilica built by Emperor Justinian I, examining geometric mosaic pavements.
