Day 1: Priština, Gračanica & The Roman Plain
Arrival & Gračanica Monastery
Arrive in Priština or pick up your rental car. Drive 9 km southeast to Gračanica. Spend the morning absorbing the five-domed harmony of King Milutin's 1321 royal church and viewing the portraits of Queen Simonida and the Nemanjić dynasty.
Ulpiana Roman Archaeological Park
Explore the stone foundations of Emperor Justinian's 6th-century episcopal basilica and Roman thermae, discovering the pre-medieval classical roots of the region.
Scenic Mountain Drive to Prizren
Drive south via Ferizaj and the scenic mountain road skirting the Šar Mountains into historic Prizren. Check into your hotel in the old quarter and take an evening stroll across the Old Stone Bridge.
Day 2: Prizren’s Medieval Sanctuaries & Ottoman Quarters
Church of Our Lady of Ljeviš
Visit King Milutin's 14th-century cathedral church in Prizren's historic quarter. Admire the brickwork bell tower and the famous restored fresco of 'Christ the Breadgiver' (Hristos Hranitelj).
Holy Archangels Monastery in Bistrica Gorge
Drive 3 km east into the dramatic granite canyon of the Bistrica river to Emperor Stefan Dušan's royal burial monastery. Walk among the monumental stone ruins and enjoy traditional coffee hospitality with the brotherhood.
Prizren Fortress (Kalaja) & Shadervan
Climb up to Prizren Fortress for a panoramic golden-hour sunset over town and river. Dine in Shadervan square on grilled meats, fresh baklava, and local Turkish tea.
Day 3: Visoki Dečani & Western Metohija
Visoki Dečani Monastery
Depart Prizren heading northwest through Gjakova to Visoki Dečani. Pass through the KFOR checkpoint into the secluded chestnut forest. Dedicate two to three hours to experiencing the Romanesque marble architecture, King Stefan Dečanski’s wooden sarcophagus, and the breathtaking 1,000+ Byzantine frescoes.
Peć / Peja & The Patriarchate
Continue 16 km north to Peć. Settle into your hotel, then spend the late afternoon at the Patriarchate of Peć as the golden light illuminates the terracotta domes and the limestone cliffs of Rugova.
Day 4: Rugova Gorge, The White Drin & Return
Rugova Gorge & Alpine Landscapes
Drive through the soaring 25 km limestone canyon of Rugova. Admire sheer cliffs, rock-hewn tunnels, and rushing turquoise mountain waters.
White Drin Waterfall & Radavc Cave
Visit the 25m cascading karst waterfall and underground cave galleries at Radavc. Enjoy a celebratory final trout lunch by the river before driving back to Priština airport or your onward destination.
